The STEM Education Promotion Alliance (SEPA) is pleased to introduce to schools the program “Enhancing Computational Skills for Students in Mekong Countries and the Republic of Korea through Coding, IoT and AI Learning” – a program designed to develop computational thinking, Coding, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Python competencies for teachers and students in Mekong countries, in connection with the Republic of Korea.
The program is implemented by the Educational Technology Research Team under the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), Thailand, in cooperation with the National Electronic Authentication Center – Ministry of Science and Technology, and is implemented from June 2026 to December 2027.
1. Program Objectives
The program aims to strengthen teachers’ professional knowledge and practical competencies in Coding, IoT, AI, and Python, while enhancing computational thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to organize project-based learning activities. Following the training phase, participating teachers will implement the learning content in their schools, guide students in identifying real-world problems, and support them in developing technology projects relevant to their school and local contexts.
2. Program Pathway
| Phase | Activities | Tentative Timeline |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Online Training | Four days of training on Coding, IoT, AI, and Python, combining theoretical learning, live demonstrations, and hands-on practice. | Completed in July–August 2026 |
| 2. Onsite Teacher Workshop in Ninh Binh | Three days of intensive hands-on training on AI-Edge, Coding, IoT, AI, Python, collaborative activities, and school implementation planning. | 20–22 October 2026 |
| 3. School-based Implementation | Teachers will organize learning activities at their schools and guide students in forming teams, identifying real-world problems, and developing project proposals. | Approximately November 2026–March 2027 |
| 4. Project Development and Selection | Promising projects will receive technical support, resources, project management guidance, teamwork support, and presentation coaching. | According to the Organizer’s schedule |
| 5. International Seminar and Project Contest | Selected teams will have the opportunity to present their projects in the Republic of Korea, participate in international exchange activities, and visit the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). | Tentatively April–May 2027 |
3. Target Participants
Each institution is expected to nominate 1–2 suitable teachers. Priority will be given to teachers who directly teach or coordinate activities in ICT, Technology, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, STEM, Robotics, AI, or science and technology clubs. Participants are expected to attend the full program and commit to implementing activities with students after the training.
4. Benefits for Schools and Teachers
Participating teachers will gain access to training content in Coding, IoT, AI, and Python, project-based learning methodologies, program materials and learning resources, hands-on workshops, and a regional professional network.
Under the program design, participating schools will receive support with AI-Edge KidBright µAI educational devices for learning activities and project development. Teachers who complete the program will receive a certificate in accordance with the Organizer’s regulations.
High-quality student projects will be considered for further development support. Selected teams may have the opportunity to participate in international seminars and project competitions in the Republic of Korea.
5. Responsibilities of Teachers and Schools
Schools are expected to support teachers in fully participating in the program and in implementing the learning activities after the training. Teachers should actively coordinate with their schools, organize student activities, monitor student progress, guide students in developing project ideas and solutions, and provide necessary feedback for program evaluation.
6. Time and Venue of the Vietnam Workshop
Dates: 20–22 October 2026
Venue: Ninh Binh, Vietnam
Participants are expected to arrive on the evening of 19 October 2026 or early in the morning of 20 October 2026.
7. Participation Costs
Participating teachers will be fully supported for accommodation, meals, and training costs in Ninh Binh.
