On April 6th, 29 teams of VEX IQ robots from both within and outside Lang Son province participated in the 2023 - 2024 academic year STEM Day in Van Quan district, themed "Igniting Creativity - Igniting Passion"
Among the 29 teams of VEX IQ robots participating in the expanded VEX Robotics District Championship within the framework of the Van Quan District STEM Day 2024, 14 teams were from all 11 districts/towns and high schools in Lang Son province.
The remaining 15 teams came from other provinces and cities nationwide, including: Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hanoi, Ha Nam, Phu Tho.
According to Mr. Duong Tuan Hung from the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, the deployment and application of VEX IQ – the leading educational robot from the United States in teaching as well as at this year’s Van Quan District STEM Day, demonstrate its attractiveness and potential in helping students develop programming skills and related STEM knowledge.
After competing in the league qualifiers and finals, two robot teams from the specialized high schools Hanoi – Amsterdam and Vinschool Hanoi excellently won the First Prize of the competition. In addition, the organizers also awarded 2 Second Prizes, 2 Third Prizes, and 4 Encouragement Prizes.
In addition to the expanded VEX Robotics District Championship, the Van Quan District STEM Day 2024 program also included activities such as: programming and controlling Kcbot robots for primary school students (23 teams participated); practical product creation based on the organizers’ exam; booths displaying STEM products.
Introduction of on-site practical product creation based on the organizers’ exam The STEM Day creates a playground and opportunities for students and teachers to explore and demonstrate their passion for STEM fields. “The eyes, smiles, and excitement of the students in traditional costumes bearing the cultural imprint of their ethnic group demonstrate the vitality of STEM education, local education, giving us deep confidence in the development and innovation of STEM education in Van Quan district as well as Lang Son province. And with the dedicated efforts of the education sector and local authorities, of teachers, students, and parents, we will continue to witness effective, proactive, and sustainable STEM education activities in Van Quan,” Mr. Duong Tuan Hung expressed his belief.

Ngo Van Hien, Head of the Education and Training Department of Van Quan, stated that Van Quan is one of the 74 poor districts nationwide, with many economic and social difficulties. However, “with the goal of overcoming all difficulties to organize educational activities, create playgrounds, and competitive movements in each school, with a focus on STEM robotics education activities, as of now, in Van Quan district, there are enough 18 layers of robots from preschool to high school, including 3D printers. The district has also participated in provincial robot competitions, advancing to the national semifinals…”.
