STTEM for Minorities and Rural Area

Introduction
This section aims to promote STEM education in the Northern and Central Highlands regions of Vietnam, focusing on the poorest provinces with a high proportion of ethnic minorities such as Lao Cai, Cao Bang, Lang Son, Lai Chau, Yen Bai in the Northern mountainous region, and Gia Lai, Kon Tum in Central Vietnam.
Objectives
- Raise awareness of STEM education and gender-inclusive STEM education among managers, teachers, and the community, encouraging them to change their mindset about STEM education for girls through training programs for administrators and teachers.
- Support local teachers in developing gender-responsive STEM curricula and STEM themes that align with the local context, harmonizing with the local ethnic and cultural life.
- Establish STEM clubs and STEM festivals at primary schools, middle schools, and high schools based on a socially innovative approach and centered on human-centered design.
Target
- At least 1,000 teachers and 10,000 students (more than 60% of whom are female) will receive direct support from these interventions.
- Educational materials on STEM instruction for teachers covering various culturally relevant topics will be provided
